Virtual Visits
When you’re not quite sure where to begin in your pelvic health journey, a virtual consultation may be just the right place to start.
Virtual visits allow you to connect from the comfort of a discreet environment of your choosing, where you can focus on your pelvic health with greater peace of mind. And, remote appointments allow for close monitoring of progress and any necessary adjustments to treatment with the same high quality standards as in-person care.
Virtual visits are only available to NYS residents. All initial visits are conducted virtually, with your choice of either in-person or virtual follow-up treatments.
What happens in a virtual session?
Receive information on pelvic floor anatomy and function; review your current diagnosis and/or symptoms and learn strategies to manage your bowel, bladder, pain or menopause complaints; ask questions regarding your pregnancy or postpartum recovery and gain practical tips and expert insight into pelvic health norms, prevention, and wellness.
Pelvic health physical therapists routinely counsel patients who may be at higher risk for developing a pelvic floor dysfunction, including the following factors:
Pregnancy, recent delivery, 3rd and 4th degree tears, use of forceps/vacuum and anal sphincter injuries
High BMI
Chronic constipation/straining
Chronic cough
Colorectal, urological, or gynecological surgery
Treatment for cancer, including chemotherapy, radiation and/or hormonal therapy
Sedentary lifestyle
Smoking
So, how does this all work?
Prior to your virtual appointment, you will submit an online intake form via a HIPAA compliant platform. This will allow for a review of your history and chief complaints before your appointment. You may use your consultation time to discuss any symptoms related to bowel, bladder, pregnancy, pelvic girdle pain, pelvic organ prolapse, abdominal wall muscle separation (diastasis recti), menopause or weak pelvic floor/core musculature. This visit could also be used to discuss your current care, referrals to providers or home management of symptoms.
Remember… this is your time to discuss your concerns, have your questions answered and develop your personalized pelvic health game plan.
